Can getting a water meter lower my bill?
It can! It depends on your usage, but if you have fewer people than bedrooms - e.g. 2 people in a 3-bed house - your water bills could come down with a meter.
Your water supplier can install a meter for free in most cases, which could result in a saving.
Suppliers do offer a trial, so if the meter ends up costing more than your previous bills, you can swap back to the non-meter rates within two years. This isn’t available to customers in some parts of southern and south-east England where compulsory metering is being introduced.
